Grand Canyon is Quite a Hike
July 22, 2004
The Grand Canyon is every bit as spectacular as it looks and everyone says it is - and you really get a feel for the size of it if you take a hike down into it and out again. Its one of the hardest hikes I’ve done, and you have to be really careful of the heat, but you do get quite a sense of achievement. We went to the North Rim of the Canyon - its apparently much quieter there than at the other side, and arrived in the evening, in time to watch the sun set, which is beautiful. Sunrise is just as good. The accommodation is in log cabins, which are great, although the choice of food is fairly limited - pizza or a posh restaurant.
One other piece of information - the medical services, should you need them, are very good - I was pretty ill and the nurse came to my cabin and sorted me out. Shame about the fifty dollar bill.
