Here are my top 5 tips for Grand Canyon:
1) Leave your car behind. There is an excellent free tram service which takes you all along the southern rim. Its easy to use and environmentally sound too
2) If you can afford it, take a helicopter ride. Peering over the edge and climbing down is all well and good, but you won’t realize the awesome splendour of the place until you’ve experienced a grand canyon helicopter tour. It was some of the best money we paid. It is a spectacularly beautiful
3) Try and visit the North rim. Most people stick to the south, and this is cerainly easier to get to; but if you can get to the north too, you will get a totally different feel and it is much less crowded
4) Go see the IMAX. There is a great IMAX film a few miles south of the south rim. It’s a litle cheesy but the views are amazing and you get some idea of hyow huge it really is
5) Walk. If you can descend even for an hour into the canyon, you will get a lot more out of it. The bright angel trail is probably the best.
