Red Rock Canyon: Back to Basics in Vegas
July 6, 2004
If you get the opportunity to visit Las Vegas, take some time out from your sight-seeing, gambling, drinking, eating excursions and visit one of the locals favorites - Red Rock Canyon. Red Rock Canyon is nature at her best. You’ll get to experience the beauty of the desert, as well as get glimpses of local wildlife ( coyotes, roadrunners and more). The canyon is great for horse back riders, hikers, skilled climbers and there are trails for the more sedate athlete who just wants to enjoy nature. Be sure to bring a lunch and to take advantage of the picnic areas located throughout the canyon. (more…) Read More →
Magnificent Red Rock Canyon
July 6, 2004
During our last visit to Las Vegas we went to Red Rock Canyon and it was truly a trip any sightseer to Vegas must see. Get out of those casinos and take this trip. The 13 mile stretch is breath taking and the colors are magnificent. If you are lucky you will also see some wild donkeys. But most important don’t forget to take along those cameras! It’s also a hot trip so bring along some water to refresh yourself. Read More →
Red Rock Canyon: An experience I won’t soon forget.
July 6, 2004
Our trip to Red Rock was a spur of the moment idea, we had no clue that there was something with such natural beauty so close to Las Vegas, even though it was cloudy and raining some, we were on our way. It started out pretty good, until we took the “road” we thought lead to the Canyon it’s self. This “path” we were on was made more for a 4×4, and I am SO glad that we had a rented car and not taken our own. (more…) Read More →
Frankly My Dear I Do Give a Dam: The Hoover Dam
July 5, 2004
One of the places I really wanted to visit on my first trip to Las Vegas was the Hoover Dam. Unfortunately that visit fell in November 2001 and the Hoover Dam was pretty much closed to everything but straight drive through traffic in the wake of September 11th. I returned in November 2002 determined to finally visit. (more…) Read More →
That’s one damn big dam - Hoover Dam
July 5, 2004
Driving across the desert, the road curves around and starts dropping to what can only be described as an incredible feat of engineering, Hoover Dam. First-time (and even returning) visitors will be amazed at how the dam fills the Colorado River’s gorge and by how large the dam simply is. Hoover Dam is an imposing presence and something that is worth seeing if you’re in the southern Nevada area. (more…) Read More →
It Left Me Mouth Wide Open!
July 5, 2004
The Hoover Dam is one of those tourist destinations that will absolutely take your breath away. It is situated along the border of Nevada and Arizona and a perfect stop to make when making a trip from the Las Vegas Strip to the Grand Canyon ( which I did on my trip out there about two years ago ). Clocks located along the Hoover Dam show the actual border between the two states. Unfortunately, however, I was only able to stay there for a short amount of time so I did not get a chance to take a tour of the entire dam nor the lake but I was able to stop and get a chance to take an awe inspiring view of this majestic creation for a little while at least and it is something that I will never forget. Hoover Dam! This place is incredible!!
July 5, 2004
About an hour away from all the lights and glamour of Las Vegas, lies a place called the Hoover Dam. This place is incredible. My first trip there was about 16 years ago. We had gone on a family vacation to California, so on the way home we stopped in Las Vegas. I was way too young to gamble, but the sight of The Hoover Dam was forever imprinted in my mind. A huge piece of American history
July 5, 2004
When my family and I drove from Mississippi to California this summer, we decided to take a short detour to see the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. After spending a day at the Grand Canyon, and being tired and ready to get home, we almost skipped the Hoover Dam. At the last minute, though, we decided that since we were so close we may as well go. Believe me, it was well worth the effort! (more…) Read More →

As of 5 hours ago, I just arrived home from my trip to Nevada. Little did I know how much fun I would have. Sure you all know of Las Vegas, Reno, Hoover Dam, etc, but just knowing of Hoover Dam does not give it justice. (more…) Read More →
