Yee Haw! Let me start by telling you that our Grand Canyon trip was the best vacation that my husband and I ever took. We have been to Europe, Hawaii and many other places and have enjoyed them, but we decided this was the best. In 2001, over the 4th of July, my husband and I visited the Grand Canyon with all of his siblings, their spouses, and his mother and father for a whitewater rafting trip. We went with a company called Western River, which my husband and two of his older sisters had been guides for during college some years ago. When we arrived at the boat launch, my husband was surprised to see that our guide was one of the people he had worked with when he was there years ago. They had a great time catching up.
What can I say except that from there it got amazing. There were three other couples and a single man on the boat with us and at the end of the trip we all cried and hugged as if we were all family. I still email and send Christmas cards to them. The most memorable event was waking up in the Grand Canyon on the morning of the fourth and piling into our raft for a day on the water. The guides had brought a big American flag that they put on the boat. And as we floated down the river past other campers we sang the American Anthem and other patriotic songs. It is a 4th I will never forget, nor will our family.
