We recently went on a trip around the Grand Circle and stopped at Canyon de Chelly for 1 nt. We went on a private Canyon de Chelly tour and found it very interesting. We had wonderful weather and the canyon was beautiful. It had been very wet, so there was quite a bit of water in the bottom. If you go on a tour they take you into the bottom and you can see the Navajo people, their small farms, and the Anasazi ruins up close. We took some wonderful pictures of the scenery, but they don’t compare to actually seeing it in person. My husband and I felt like the rock formations and landscape looked surreal. We went on a 3 hour tour, so we probably did not get to see as much Indian culture as a longer tour would allow you. We then toured the rim later that afternoon and got a different vantage point from the top. The canyon is beautiful and makes you want to stay. What a wonderful place to see!
