A backpack large enough to carry two or three litres of water plus your other gear.
Good hiking boots are essential or you risk a strained ankle at best. You will need warm clothes early on, but shorts and t-shirt by midday. I’d advise you to take a hat as well.
Lots of sunblock.
Keep it light. If you take along a load of photo equipment and a tripod, you will regret it after about 10 minutes. It’s at least three hours up and three hours back, and you have a long, long way to climb.
Just in case, I’d take a torch and a whistle. Better safe than sorry.
If you take nothing else, you MUST take at least 2 litres (that’s about 4 pints) of water and some high calorie food. I recommend the largest packet of peanut M&Ms you can buy.
