The Grand Canyon is something everyone should see at least once. It defies explanation and pictures do not begin to capture its beauty and immensity. The North Rim is much less crowded and if you have a 4wheel drive you can go on some of the back roads that lead to the rim, such as Toroweap, where you will be nearly alone and able to truly experience the Canyon - no guard rails! The South Rim can be ridiculously crowded in peak months (July, August), so try to go early or late in the season. The entrance fee is a little steep compared to other national parks and the gift shops will clean your pocketbook right quick, but that’s to be expected at a major tourist attraction.
