Backpacking The Grand Canyon
Took a family of five (three daughters 10, 12, and 14) backpacking to the bottom. Camped at Phantom Ranch for two nights, then hiked out. Absolutely awesome. Best trip ever. It was hot, and the climb out was a lot of work, but everyone wants to go back.
Although we carried in our food and shelter, we made one meal reservation at Phantom Ranch. It was a nice change.
If you go in warm weather, carry more water that you think you need, and wear cotton!
