Things To Do At Grand Canyon South Rim
Spending many hours watching people come to view one of Mother Nature’s best creations is very enjoyable. No matter where people come from, it is always interesting to see their reaction to such a marvelous place like the Grand Canyon South Rim.
The shuttle bus that runs through the park is a convenient option. Take the bus west to Hermits Rest. There are many view points to enjoy different vantages of the Canyon along the way.
Hermits Rest has history dating back to 1909. Don’t let the ravens snatch your snack. There is Hermit trail to the west, which I hiked down a couple of miles. The trail is rough compared to Bright Angel and the Kaibab trail. Take some water and snacks because there isn’t any water or shade along the trail. Hike early or late in the day and let someone know where you are and when you will be returning.
Stroll through the forest. I enjoyed the smells of the forest with the pinyon pines, ponderosa pines and juniper trees.
Along the rim is quite a sight to gaze out into the Grand Canyon and have the condors circling above. It is amazing to hear the condors swoosh above you with their ten foot wing spans.
